Antique Gilt Bronze & Malachite Casket, France, 1870

Exquisite malachite and gilt bronze casket.  

Heavily decorated and finely carved gilt bronze, within all four sides and the lid are beautiful malachite panels, hinged lid with central panel detailing a cameo.  Cushioned dark red velvet lining and trim.
