Bust of a Girl, after Houdon
Bust of a Girl, after Houdon
This charming bust of a young girl is carved from marble and was made in the second half of the 19th century. It is after an original by Jean-Antoine Houdon (1741 - 1828). The subject is a young girl called Louise Brogniard. She is shown with her hair tied up and looking to her right over one of her bare shoulders. Houdon was much admired, indeed still is, as he managed to depict his subjects, especially the younger ones, without over romanticising or sentimentalising them. She is presented here on a classical integral socle.
Price: £1,800.
Height: 48 cm
